Dealing with self-doubt
2 mins read
Self-doubt is something we all experience at some point in our lives. However, sometimes it can get become a block and prevent us from achieving our goals.
There are ways to manage self-doubt, here are a few:
1) Write down your achievements
Sometimes it’s easier to focus on what we don’t do well rather than what we do. Take five minutes a day to acknowledge what you have achieved. It may be as small as replying to an email when you said you would! Focusing on what you do well reinforces your strengths.
2) Fill the gap
Self-doubt can surface when we are unsure of how to do something. What is it that you feel don’t know how to do? Is there a course, book, YouTube video, podcast or another resource that can fill that knowledge gap and provide you with the confidence to get it done?
3) Talk it out
Often, we are our own harshest critics. Rather than dwell on your doubt, find someone you can talk to openly and honestly. A conversation with a trusted friend, family member or colleague can help in bringing things into perspective and give a confidence boost.
Self-doubt can be challenging to deal with but remember that you’re not alone. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a professional, who can help get to the root of your doubt and equip you with the tools to better manage it.
