Identify the problem<\/strong><\/p>\n Culture is a word we hear a lot. But what does it actually mean? Workplace culture is the character of the business. This includes the values, goals, attitudes and beliefs. For example, one culture may be to encourage everyone to take lunch breaks to help maintain work balance or perhaps have a mentor and training system for new starters. What\u2019s the culture of your workplace, and what don\u2019t you like about it? How is it impacting you or others? Get clear on the problem.<\/p>\n Talk to your manager BUT come up with solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n Nothing will change unless there are discussions about what needs to change. A great place to start is by chatting to your manager. Outline what you feel the problem with the culture is, as well as some solutions to make a change. If the problem is poor communication within the team, suggest a weekly team meeting. If the problem is morale, suggest team-building activities.<\/p>\n Be part of implementing the change<\/strong><\/p>\n Good workplace culture can take time to develop. However, it\u2019s created by employees who live by it. It\u2019s one thing to say, \u201cwe have a positive workplace\u201d, and it\u2019s another to be<\/em> positive. Lead by example! If possible, talk to others about who may want to be involved, such as human resources or other employees.<\/p>\n Ultimately, workplace culture is created by all those in it, not just you.
